PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The theme of my project is “The Witch and the Apple,” which is biased toward animation-style painting and production. Because the background content uses the photo of the branch I took as the material, I thought of the mystery of the witch and then thought of the poisoned apple in Snow White, so I wanted to make a work with this theme. Deep in the forest, the mysterious witch is about to bite an apple, which may not be ordinary. After the witch bites the apple, will any magical things happen?
At the beginning of this project, I wanted to use foam material to use laser cutting to make 3D works with dark and light colors. But in the later resource search, I saw some works that use laser cutting into different pieces and collage to create a sense of layering. After thinking, I plan to use CNC to make the background and frame and laser cutting to make the central part of making a work that breaks the 2D plane in the frame and has a sense of story. For the background part, convert the 2D photo into a 3D model and use CNC to carve on the foam to make a 2.5D relief effect. In the main part in the middle, the far and near and 3D effects are shown by layering. I kept the original color of the MDF part in the middle because I like the dark edges after laser cutting, so in the background part, I used blue and purple watercolor paints to color the background and distinguish the color with the border. I put a protective film on the foam with a flex seal spray. Finally, four more sides were laser cut to protect the frame. These four sides are also engraving the material I shot.
